Landry!
Landry made his arrival on August 18, 2015 at 5:44pm weighing 7lbs 5oz and measuring 21in. Nothing about my pregnancy was expected or easy so why in the world did I think his entrance into this world would be?
I was scheduled to be induced at 8:00 the morning of the 18th. Chad was on call the night before but by the grace of God nothing came in. He was able to sleep all night and was home by 5:30am to help me get the kids ready to go to the Bourne's house. Peyton was espcially angry that we woke him up early. We turned on the bathroom light so we wouldn't blind the kids. When Peyton woke up he yelled at us that he didn't get enough sleep. We left him alone for a few minutes while we woke Avery. It wasn't long before we saw him storm from his room, slap the light switch off and get back into bed--a preview of Peyton's teenage years?
We dropped off the kids successfully and got checked into the hospital. The nurse started the pitocin right on schedule at 8am after the doctor determined I was 3 cm dilated. At least we weren't starting from scratch. With things moving along so well we thought we would have a baby by mid afternoon. We played some Skip-Bo, watched TV, things were going well. My water broke around 1pm just after I got my epidural (which had to go in twice.)
Unfortunately something was not quite right with the epidural. My lower half was so so numb and one small patch on my back was not affected and I was dying. We decided it would be best to push rather than adjust the epidural but unfortunately I was so numb I couldn't tell I needed to push nor could I push effectively. They decided to turn the epidural off and let me labor down. The epidural completely wore off on the upper half but still left me too numb on the lower half. I was in PAIN!! Props to the ladies who choose natural child birth! After pushing for a while longer, the doctors determined that Landry was stuck, They did an ultra sound to check his positioning. Landry was face up...I knew he had been face up but since they didn't say anything at the initial ultrasound I figured maybe he had turned. Note to self, in the future, tell doctors what position your baby is in! Silly me, I thought they would take care of that. Unfortunately Landry needed to be turned. So they shoved him back in and flipped him around. Yes, it was as awful as it sounds. I don't think I have ever been in so much pain! Once Landry was turned he came out shortly.
We are so so grateful Landry is here and all were healthy. Landry is precious and such a calm, handsome little man,
Peyton and Avery acted just as I expected when they came to meet their little brother. Peyton took one look and was good and Avery could not keep her hands off of him. She wanted to do anything and everything to help. Can't believe we are a family of 5!!
Thank you Chad for taking a picture during a very painful moment. I was laughing with rage ;)
Avery couldn't wait to hold hands...
and hold her baby.
my loves!
