4th of July 2015

4th of July has come to be one of our favorite holidays-Chad's very favorite.  There is something about barbecuing, being outside, eating All-American food and being with friends that is just so happy. Not to mention celebrating the great freedoms we enjoy.

Unfortunately Chad had to work on the 4th.   So on the 3rd, we headed out to the "beach" for a little BBQ and evening swim.  It was such a beautiful night with wonderful friends. Peyton and Avery were in heaven playing in the sand and water. I was a little grossed out by the dead fish we kept having to throw back out into the deep end.  It was a great way to kick off our celebrations.

On the 4th the kids and I hit the Zollman Zoo for a  little animal admiring and goat feeding.  And of course we hung out with our friends after naps.  P had a really hard time with the fireworks last year so I bought Peyton and Avery each a pair of ear muffs.  They LOVED the fireworks.  Peyton even thinks he might try fireworks without his ear muffs next year.  P even got to hold a sparkler and a roman candle.  All who know me know I am afraid of fire.  Nevada is so dry that wild fires are a summer staple.  We never did home fireworks, so I don't have much experience.  When P was holding his sparkler I was right there and then he was handed a roman candle.  It was all I could do to stay back and let him do his thing.  He thought it was fantastic.  He's a pretty brave kid.  It was a happy 4th though next year we hope Daddy will be able to join in the fun.
