East Coast Adventures aka April!

Moving to the East has definitely been an adventure!  It's been full of wonderful experiences and challenges.  We are so grateful for this time....truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Back tracking a bit.  We left Minnesota on March 26th.  We did the drive from in 2 days and we didn't end up leaving until 1pm so we didn't pull into our hotel in Ohio until Midnight.  Did I mention that our kids don't sleep in the car?!  No more than 45 minutes at a time any way.  Much to my surprise, however, the kids were amazing.  And we spent the first weekend in PA with the Karrasch's.  Have I mentioned that I love living close to family?!

When we got to Towson it was rainy and confusing.  The streets here are twisty and multiple streets have the same name!  It's a bit different than what both Chad and I are used to.  And when we got to the apartment I'll be honest that I wasn't all that impressed with the new place.  I guess I was just expecting something different. This  is our first away rotation and it's weird to be away from your own stuff.  It just takes a little getting used to. Now Peyton loves his big boy bed, we love that there's a playground and poor Avery sleeps in a closet. I think the adjustment period is over-I can get around without my GPS!

One of the things we love most about being here is being close to family.  Peyton loves the boys and we have gotten to see them so much!  We were able to go to Logan's 6th birthday party, we spent "Easter" (a day early) at Inner Harbor and we are looking forward to more adventures in May.

Another amazing thing about the East is its proximity to so many fun things to do!  We have already done so much and it's only been a month.  We especially loved visiting Washington DC as the cherry blossoms were beginning to bloom.  We saw the sights and visited the Air and Space Museum and National Museum of America.  Then we ventured to see the temple.  It was beautiful.  For a few days following the trip Peyton would say "Let's talk about Jesus and Moroni's trumpet".  It was a hit.

When we moved out here one of my very best friends, Alexandra,  was living in VA.  We overlapped for about a week before she headed back west.  She came to visit.  It was so great to see her and spend time together which was so overdue.  Peyton loved that "Pointy An-Alex" aka "Auntie Alex" showed him fire trucks on her phone and we had a blast at the Maryland Zoo.

Other than that, Chad has been working like crazy.  Out of the 6 times he's been on call, he has been able to sleep once-for 2ish hours.  The kids and I have had a good time slowing down a little and just enjoying life's little moments.  We've made some friends, spent a lot of time at Target and outside enjoying the warmer weather.  Here's to two more months as East Coasters.
