September: Part 1
Is September really over? I can't believe it! We had a busy September though I don't really know what we did! We were just enjoying life, I guess.
Labor Day was super cold. It didn't even reach 60*. Needless to say we froze at our ward picnic. It was super fun, minus Peyton's 7ft fall from the playground, which thankfully I did not witness. But it warmed up in the days following and Chad and I took advantage and had the first, and probably only, fire of the year. We roasted mallows and had s'mores. It was the perfect at-home-date. But of course Chad had to water his babies.
Just when we thought fall had arrived, we had heat wave. Some friends and I talked about having a little back yard pool party for the kids. Peyton was stoked to have friends come over and swim. All afternoon he was saying "Friends over?" We e-mailed lots of people BUT only my friend with no kids came. It was sad. Poor Peyton kept asking me when his friends were coming over. He had great time playing in the pool and trying out his Lightning McQueen suit for next year.
I tried to capture Peyton laying down reading his book but then he saw me and took off!
Nonexistent Post call day....Avery Snuggles
Avery was our little nomad for the first 4 months of her life. Avery slept in the swing in the living room for the last four months but during naps I would put her in a little rocker in my room so Peyton wouldn't wake her. One Sunday, Chad was post call and was sleeping in the bedroom, Peyton was down for a nap in his room so I didn't know where to put Avery so she wouldn't wake or be woken by anyone so she ended up in the bathroom. Poor girl. I truly wish we had more rooms upstairs. But at the end of this month I decided there was never going to be a good time to move her into Peyton's room. Enough was enough and I just put her in her crib one night. It's definitely had its ups and downs but I like having my babies in one room. She still sleeps in my room in the Pack 'n' Play for naps.
Chad had these awesome tractors before we got married and since Peyton is so into any type of vehicle I thought he would love them. I asked Chad many times to get them out but it just never seemed to happen for one reason or another. One day Peyton and I headed down the tractor isle at Target and Peyton said, "Daddy get tractors out". I swear I didn't say anything!! He talked about it for the rest of the day. I texted Chad at work and told him he better not come in the house without the tractors in tow. Peyton LOVES them and took them everywhere for weeks!
She always has a smile for me. Even when she wakes up!
Earlier in the summer Peyton's nursery teacher told me Peyton was afraid of bubbles. I have witnessed the cowering for myself. He just doesn't like them to fly at him. So I took him out and got him interested. The next time they did bubbles in nursery he did better and Sister Cook taught him to pop the bubbles. He loves it now. He even tried blowing bubbles. He did a great job. Don't you love the bubble beard?
