2 Traumas in 2 Days
#1: 9/1/13
On Sunday, after church, Peyton was in a really crabby mood. He was grouchy and tired and just ready for a nap. We were eating our usual Sunday lunch of nachos and Peyton was drinking a juice box which he threw across the kitchen. He then hid in the pantry. I told him he had till "1" (counting back from 5) to come out of the pantry or he was going to time out. When he didn't come out, I calmly went to the panty, opened the doors and picked him up. As I bent to pick up the juice box, I felt a searing, burning pain in my shoulder! My son BIT me! I dropped him on the floor and screamed "Dang it!" (Only I didn't say "Dang") Chad jumped out of his chair to see what happened. When he saw the bite he put Peyton in his bed until we were ready to talk to him. He actually broke the skin! It was so bad. I think he learned his lesson though. "Bite Mommy owie sad." He said sorry and all was forgiven.

I shouldn't be telling this story because I wasn't actually a witness. That having been said, I went to get dessert while Chad stayed with the kids. Peyton was playing on the playground when I left. When I came back, I couldn't understand why Chad was on the playground with P. He's perfectly capable of playing while you watch. I learned that Peyton was climbing the ladder. He made it all the way up to the top but just didn't quite make it onto the platform. Did I mention this was the highest platform? He fell all the way down, getting a little tangled up in the ladder on the way down and somehow didn't hurt the little boy underneath him. He fell on his face in the woodchips, face covered in dirt. According to two of our friends Chad raced over and preformed a full orthopedic exam to make sure nothing was broken and the first thing Peyton said was "Okay?" Do you think this stopped him? Oh no, he was right back at it-with Mom or Dad as a spot of course.
