April Part 1

One month of a new quarter down! We seem to live our lives by Chad's rotations. I must say, so far this quarter has been refreshing! Chad is on a joints rotation and although he is busy at work, he has only been home at 9:45 once! Peyton and I are so much happier when we get Daddy/Chad time.

This month Chad did some traveling. He was living the high life in NYC-we're talking limo rides, $60 steaks, and bidets. Then the following weekend we had a fabulous experience getting Chad to Kansas City for is AO Basic Trauma Course.
Here's the story: Chad was supposed to fly out of Rochester on American Airlines on Wednesday evening. Because of a glitch in their computer systems, American Airlines had major delays and cancelations. Chad's flight was delayed and finally canceled. The travel agent was able to get Chad a flight out of Minneapolis at 9:45pm but when we double checked the flight, some human had an error and pushed the wrong day. Chad let the travel agent know and they said, "Sorry, we're closing for the day, here's a phone number you can call." Chad called and was put on hold FOREVER but in the meantime we packed up Peyton and headed to MSP at 6:30pm. Half way to the airport, Chad's call got dropped but since we were already on our way to the airport, we figured the airline could get the flight figured out when we got there. I dropped Chad off at 8:05pm and Peyton and I headed home. Chad went straight to the American Airlines desk and SUPRISE! they clock out at 8:00pm. Delta paged the workers, security paged the workers and they would not come back. Chad got on the phone again.
Meanwhile, Peyton and I were driving home. I was a bit stressed. I don't see all that well at night, and it started raining. I was 20 miles out of Rochester when Chad called back and said the flight wasn't going to happen and I needed to turn around. Flustered I hung up the phone but immediately called Chad back-100 times. I was going to tell him to get a hotel, take a cab...but he didn't answer-He got through to the airline just as he hung up with me-I didn't know what to do so I turned around for the hour drive back to the airport and just as we turned around, my peacefully sleeping Peyton woke up. Peyton and I made it safely back to Chad and drove home. By some miracle, truly, Peyton was happy the whole way home and never made a peep. We made it home at 12:30am. Chad slept for an hour and ended up driving the 6 hours to KC. Ridiculous? I think so.

Chad also drove my car to KC. His truck has been making some squealing sounds and he didn't want to break down in the middle of Kansas. So when he got back, we took the truck in for an oil change and a belt change to stop the squealing. The oil people said we needed to take it to a mechanic because the problem was more than a belt. We took the pickup in and Chad needs a whole new engine. Sad day.

Peyton had a heck of an April as well. The first Friday that Chad was gone I decided to take him to Pipsqueaks-an indoor play place for toddlers, you know, because Spring is looking a lot more like Winter in MN. Peyton was so excited to go down the slide, he took off running, tripped and fell into the slide hitting his nose and mouth. Both were gushing blood and the poor boy looked like he had been in a fight. But once the bleeding stopped he had an awesome time for an hour and a half. The following day, Daddy got home and he and P were playing...Whap! Peyton hit his face on Daddy's head and broke his lip open in the very same place. Poor baby. The same night we went to an Ortho Party and Peyton burnt his hand on a gas fireplace. Poor, poor Peyton.
But despite Peyton's rough weekend, he has been a very happy boy. His vocabulary has exploded! My favorite words: Again "Agee", counting which really just consists of "two", "Ready, Set Go" and unfortunately Peyton has mastered "No" but the way he says it is just so cute. He also enjoyed a few sunny days taking walks and coloring with sidewalk chalk. He also enjoyed cleaning with mom, dressing himself and a few Frostys-P and Mom had a couple dates while Daddy was gone.

I have just been living the life, getting ready for the baby to come and expanding. I swear Miss Avery moves more than Peyton ever did. I always have some little appendage poking out of my belly and surprisingly, her movements hurt! I don't remember Peyton's movements ever hurting. Oh well, 5 weeks to go!
