February Update

February flew by and dragged on all at the same time.  I am not sure quite how this phenomenon occurs but it happenes.  I think we have finally gotten our first taste of a real Minnesota winter.  There were days in February that the temperature didn't reach above zero and the snow finally came. Needless to say, cabin fever became a permanent resident in our house and continues to be.

Chad was busy in February; this is not news. Not only does his work keep him busy, he has also undertaken home improvement projects.  One Saturday night as we were getting Peyton ready for bed Chad said, "I think I am going to paint." It has become a Saturday night ritual:  Peyton goes to bed, Chad paints a wall.  I love that about Chad, he puts his mind to something and he does it.  Only a few walls left to go before the new carpet arrives.

Each year, February brings the Anniversary of our engagement: Valentine's Day.  Chad was on call so we got a babysitter Friday night for a date. Dates are precious and rare these days.  We splurged on a nice dinner at Chester's, a local restaurant.  By splurged, I mean, we both got sodas, didn't look at price for the meals we wanted and even shared a dessert.

February also brings my birthday.  25 this year!  Whoo hoo! It was low key but perfect.  Chad was on call but the night before he surprised me by bringing home a cake and card.  On the actual day, Peyton and I ate cake for breakfast, went grocery shopping, and just had a lazy day at home.  I wish both of my boys could have been home but I couldn't have been happier to share the day with my little man.  I also had a few friends stop by baring cake, candy, cards and ice cream.  Rochester is an awesome place to live...just sayin'.

This month, Peyton and I frequented the little play area at the mall.  We used to hit up story times but Peyton is just not interested.  He is a busy boy who loves to run, climb and play.  With parks being a no go for now, indoor play areas are the next best thing and he loves it!  I love to watch him interact with other kids.  One day he found a little girl friend to follow around and mimicked her every move.  It was too cute.  Peyton also got addicted to watching Cars and had his first experience with Playdough when we had friends over for the day.

We also got to see Avery this month.  Since we have a history of heart defects on both sides of  the family, the doctors wanted to make sure Avery's heart was working as it should, hoping to avoid a fetal echo cardiogram.  We had an ultra sound at 24 weeks.  Chad was even able to slip in on the appointment and see his little girl for the first time since 14 weeks.  She is healthy!  She is growing as she should.  The ultra sound tech commented that she has long legs and Chad and I both asked if she was still a girl, rest assured.
