Chicago

After Grandma & Grandpa's visit, Chad took a week off so we could go on our family vacation.  CHICAGO!!!  Peyton was such a trooper.  He did great in the car, especially on the way there.  He really struggled with sleep though.  He would scream and we would have to hold him until he fell asleep which is so not like him.  In the moment we wondered why on earth we would bring a one year old on vacation but looking back, it was worth it.

We bought a Chicago City Pass-such a great deal!  We got to go to Sears Tower, The John Hancock Observatory, The Field Museum, Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium.  The Aquarium was, by far, my favorite.  Peyton LOVED it too.  They had a room with a complete glass wall-The Shark Tank-and a glass floor where Peyton could "walk" on the stingrays.  He was mesmerized.

We also rode the Metra (which we weren't supposed to...oops!), went to Millennium Park where we saw The Bean, we saw Soldier's Field from a distance, rode a water taxi, ate the best hot dogs ever at Portillo's and at yummy pizza-Chicago style-at Giadorno's.  We also shopped the Miracle Mile and bought nothing, ate amazing cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory, got to know our block really well looking for parking, rode the buses, ate $8 ice cream at Navy Pier and watched lots of Harry Potter and History Channel.  Needless to say, after 3 days, we were EXHAUSTED and ready to come home.  When we walked in the house, Peyton even waved-It was so cute that he recognized his home.
