Adventures to Minnesota
We're HERE!
We kind of dropped off the face of the earth for a while.
Well, 2 weeks ago tomorrow we hit the road. It was really hard to say good-bye to family and friends and Sparks, NV. Especially for me, I have never lived more than 20 minutes away from my family. Now Sara and Chris and their family will be our closest reletives...only 16 hours away!
The best word I can think to describe our trip is.....EVENTFUL.
Day 1 Salt Lake City---Picked up Chad's mom, got to have dinner with Jason and his family
Day 2 Grand Island, NE---Wyoming was pretty but desolate, we got to see the "Lincoln Log"
Day 3 Rochester---the most eventful of them all
-Budget truck started billowing black smoke-pulled over in Lincoln and called the repair man who said nothing was wrong and to keep driving
-About an hour later truck started billowing white smoke and clanking-pulled over in Coucil Bluffs, IA and called customer service who told us to drive back to Omaha to an International Truck Service Center
-The fuel injector was cracked. We waited 5 hours
-Total set back 7 hours
-Matters get worse-terrential rain/electric storm all the way to Rochester-Didn't get here until 1am!!!
**Don't use Budget if you are moving**
The day after we arrived, Chad and I closed on our house. We are homeowners!! Whoo Hoo.
We picked up our moms at the hotel and went stright to work-moving, painting, cleaning.....
TO DEBBIE & KELLI:
Thank you so much for coming with us to Minnesota and helping us move. We would have been lost without you and would probably still be swimming in cardboard and dirt if it weren't for you. You're o-mazing!
We are getting, settled. The house looks fabulous {Pictures to come} and I'm pretty sure the Home Depot employees know us by now.
It's kind of weird being in Rochester. It doesn't really feel real. It seems like a nice place so far though. If we have to be away from family this seems like a great place to be. We have met so many wonderful people already-people stopping by the house to say welcome to the neighborhood, EVERYONE at church introducing themselves, and we have already had dinner at 2 different family's homes. The people have been wonderful and so welcoming.
Anyway~Sorry for the long post, hopefully I'll have pictures soon and more adventures to tell about. Until then....
