Interview Trail--It's a long one.
This last weekend was crazy! Chad set off on the interview trail last Wednesday beginning in Pittsburg and then on Friday it was off to Rochester, Minnesota. Since the Mayo Clinic is pretty high on our list of where we would like to go for interviews, I met Chad there. It was a fun, stressful, insane experience. So here are the highlights of our trip:
PS: I also graduated a couple of weeks ago! More to come on that as well (When I'm on my home computer)
- We got to our hotel and whoops! Chad accidentally booked the wrong dates so we had to make a new and more expensive reservation. (This is only the beginning!)
- The social was fun, we met some new people but were told that the Ortho interviews come with a curse...people often get snowed in. We laughed and thought they were joking...NOT
- In snowed like crazy all night long. Chad went off to his interview which was wonderful. Chad really liked it. In the meantime, I headed to the spouses brunch with a girl I met the previous night. We got stuck in the snow. Awesome! I had to dig us out. Good thing it wasn't my first experience. The ladies were great though.
- 21 inches of snow later, Chad's plane got cancelled and moved to Sunday and then later in the evening it got cancelled again and moved to Monday evening. (He was supposed to be in Hershey, Pennsylvania Monday for another interview) So we spent the eveing trying to figure something out to get him there while trying to figure out why my plane back to Reno hadn't been cancelled.
- After a stressful evening, we decided Penn State wasn't worth spending $600 on a new plane ticket :(
- 6:30am Sunday morning, Chad and I took a cab to the airport to get me on my way. I was terrified that I was going to die with all the snow on the runway and wind. But 7:15 am, my plane got cancelled and moved to Monday
- We took another cab back to downtown Rochester, got a new hotel. Found out that Penn State was willing to Interview Chad on Tuesday. (He was the only one who took the offer...very impressive) so we bought a much cheaper plane ticket.
- Monday night I made it back to Reno safely and Chad missed a plane and got rerouted to Baltimore. Poor Guy! He was supposed to meet Sara and Chris in Hershey so they hijacked their rental car to pick Chad up in Baltimore and drove him to Hershey. (Their adventure was quite insane as well.)
- Chad made it to Penn State, loved it and was grateful it was worth the fiasco and money to get there!
