The Jazz Singer

In my CH class last Tuesday we were talking about one of the first movies ever made where audio was acutally apart of the picture. You still have to read what the people are saying but it was pretty cool. Obviously it was the 1927 version of The Jazz Singer. I didn't know that it was a remake until that day. I grew up with the biggest Neil Diamond fan ever. Neil Diamond to my dad is like The Backstreet Boys to me; a little outdated but totally awesome. So when I was little I remember seeing The Jazz Singer many times but never really appreciated it.
Neil Diamond remade the Jazz Singer in the late 70's or early 80's? I think possibly because he is a Jewish man and it's about a Jewish guy named Yussel Rabinowitz who goes against the traditions of his father to pursue his dreams of writing and performing music. Anyway, after class I borrowed the DVD from my parents and watched it. It is such a good movie! I thought it was really inspiring and Neil Diamond does a great job. Let me just clarify that I wasn't much of a Neil fan until about 2 years ago when some of his songs really had an impact on me and of course his music is a large part of my childhood :)-Thanks dad. Well, I just wanted to talk about it because it was so great!! Watch it if you haven't.
